Dalphia Murphy

Hello, my name is Dalphia Murphy. I am the oldest child of seven children from a wonderful mother and father living by White Lake, North Carolina. That is one idea that encouraged me to work with young children and become a Director of a 5 Star Center in Durham. I have studied at Elizabeth City State University and finally accomplished my degree in Family and Consumer Sciences with a minor in Family Relations. I have worked at an Electronics Company in White Lake. Then I worked at Bristol Meyers in Morrisville. I have also worked at Northern Telcom for over 17 years. This is where I had lots of coworkers that complained about good childcare for their families.

I spoke the word right then and said that I would start a day care center of my own and help families and parents out who had to go to work. So, in 1995 I started Little People Day Care and it turned into Little People Day Care Center late. We started with 12 children and now we are licensed for 100 children. Composed of Early Head Start classrooms, along with PreK-Durham PreK, and our regular classrooms consisting of an infant classroom, a one-year old classroom, one 2/3 year old classroom and one preschool classroom. We have over 15 full time employees and at least 4 volunteers that work in excellence. We are proud of our facility at 1020 S. Miami Blvd. We look forward to nurturing your precious children.
